Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Coming in 2022; Watch the Trailer
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022. The news comes from the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct on Tuesday.
A short teaser for the game was revealed at the very end of the event. The teaser (below) shows Link taking to the skies above Hyrule in a way that’s reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword — a remaster of which launches next month.
New powers and new enemies can also be seen in the short clip, with Link pushing away a metal mace-like ball to crush enemies and possibly using water to fast-travel between areas.
Following the trailer, series producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that the skies above Hyrule will make up a new area for Link to explore. Meanwhile, on the ground, Hyrule Castle is ripped from the earth. I suppose we’ll have to wait until 2022 to find out what’s actually going on.
Interestingly, the game is being referred to as “Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” suggesting that Breath of the Wild 2 isn’t going to be the final title — did any of us really think that though (not a chance - ed.)?
